Today, Poco introduced the latest addition to its X6 lineup, unveiling the Neo model with a host of impressive features that belie its price tag. Poco proudly claims this to be their thinnest smartphone to date. Among its standout attributes, the display steals the spotlight. With sleek and consistent bezels encasing the screen, a rarity in smartphones priced below Rs. 20,000, the Poco X6 Neo offers a visually striking experience. After spending several days with the Poco X6 Neo 5G, here’s our initial impression of the device.

When it comes to the design, the Poco X6 Neo impresses more from the front than the rear. Poco’s meticulous attention to detail is evident in the uniform slimming down of bezels around the display, eliminating any noticeable thick chin. Promoting a screen-to-body ratio of 93.30 percent, Poco sets a high standard in visual immersion. The left and right bezels measure a mere 1.5mm in thickness, while the top and bottom edges extend slightly more at 2mm and 2.5mm, respectively.
Delivering a seamless visual experience, the display of the Poco X6 Neo boasts a refreshing 120Hz refresh rate and a crisp full-HD+ resolution. Spanning 6.67 inches, the AMOLED panel is fortified with Gorilla Glass 5 for enhanced durability. Positioned neatly at the top is a discreet hole-punch cutout housing the selfie camera. Whether you’re engaging in multimedia entertainment or immersing yourself in intense gaming experiences, this panel guarantees superior performance. Stay tuned as we delve deeper into our comprehensive review to thoroughly assess the display’s performance.
Turning our attention to the rear, the back panel of the device is constructed from plastic and features a distinctive marble-inspired finish that catches the eye when illuminated. Currently, we’re testing out the Martian Orange version of the Poco X6 Neo, and while the pattern on the rear panel aims to evoke the rugged terrain of Mars, it falls short of truly resembling the planet’s surface.
Featuring a dual camera setup with a leading 108-megapixel primary sensor, I had the chance to put the camera through its paces, and initial results show promising photo quality, particularly in well-lit conditions. However, a comprehensive evaluation of the camera capabilities will be conducted in our upcoming full review, so be sure to stay tuned for that. The cameras are housed within a rectangular module, a design motif consistent with previous iterations of the Poco X6 series. Despite its sizable dimensions, the handset’s flat sides and subtle tapering contribute to a comfortable grip. Additionally, the frame is constructed from plastic, maintaining a balance between durability and weight.
In terms of connectivity, the smartphone is equipped with a USB Type-C port located at the bottom, along with an IR blaster positioned at the top. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi, 5G dual SIM functionality, GPS, and Bluetooth 5.3 for seamless connectivity. Additionally, it boasts an IP54 rating, ensuring protection against dust and water ingress. The volume and power buttons are conveniently situated on the right side of the device, with the power button doubling as a fingerprint scanner. Impressively, the scanner promptly registered my fingerprint and operated smoothly. While the Poco X6 Neo features a single speaker, users will appreciate the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack located at the top for enhanced audio connectivity.
Regarding its hardware specifications, the Poco X6 Neo boasts a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC coupled with configurations offering up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage capacity. During our initial usage period, the device demonstrated generally smooth performance, albeit with sporadic instances of lag. However, to provide a comprehensive assessment of its capabilities, we plan to conduct rigorous testing involving gaming sessions, benchmarking, and everyday usage scenarios. Will the device exhibit overheating issues under demanding gaming conditions? Stay tuned for our forthcoming full review to uncover the answer.
In terms of software, the Poco X6 Neo ships with MIUI 14, built upon the foundation of Android 13. Poco commits to providing users with two years of Android updates and an extended four-year period of security patches. However, amidst a landscape where many smartphones, including other models within the Poco X6 series, are already operating on Android 14, it’s disheartening to witness the Neo still running on Android 13. Additionally, the device appears to come preloaded with a considerable amount of bloatware, but we intend to delve deeper into their functionalities—or decide whether to steer clear of them—during our comprehensive review.
Poco has integrated a robust 5,000mAh battery into the X6 Neo, complemented by 33W fast charging capabilities. It’s worth noting that the charger is included in the package, a thoughtful addition by the company. Among the standout attributes of the device, particularly given its starting price of Rs. 15,999, are its impressive display and the high-resolution 108-megapixel rear camera. How will the Poco X6 Neo stack up against its competitors in this price bracket? Stay tuned for our upcoming full review, where we’ll delve into this question and more.
